Review: FROZEN 2 Is a Fantastic Sequel That's Better Than the First Film
I can’t say that Frozen 2 was a movie that I was excited about. While I enjoyed the first film, I wouldn’t have been upset if we never saw a sequel. But, of course, Disney is going to make a sequel to Frozen! It made a ton of money at the box office, and there’s a loyal fanbase out there who are excited about seeing the movie!
After watching Frozen 2, I have to admit that I’m happy it exists. This was a great sequel, and in my opinion, it was actually better than the first movie. It’s a rare thing for a sequel to be better than the first film, but directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck managed to pull it off! It was fun to see all of these characters again and learn how they’ve grown since we last saw them. There was also some wonderful new music that the fans are going to love.
This new story is darker and more mature than the last one, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any humor because there totally is! There are moments in the film that are hilarious and those moments mostly come from characters like Olaf (Josh Gad) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff). They had scenes in this movie that had me and my wife busting up laughing. There’s one musical moment with Kristoff, though, that had the audience rolling with laughter.
In this new story, Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient enchanted forest in an effort to save their kingdom from a mysterious force that caused the people of Arendelle to leave in order to survive. In the process, each of the main characters are put to the ultimate test of how far they are willing to go and how much they are willing to sacrifice to save those they love. The story also unlocks the mystery of what happened to Anna and Elsa’s parents.
I won’t get into any details, but the film is filled with thrilling, adventurous moments, and there are also intense aspects of the film that will have kids on the edge of their seats and other parts that will leave them crying in your arms. No joke… in the screening I attended, the theater was filled with crying children and while it was sad, it was also kinda funny.
I loved the film! The cast was great, the story was strong, the music was beautiful, and it was an all-around spectacular film that you’ll all enjoy… unless you hate Disney movies. Anyway, go see it!
