Review: PREY Is a Badass Predator Movie and Deserves to Be Seen on the Big Screen

I’m a huge fan of the 1987 Predator; that movie is the pinnacle of badassery. It set a high bar for sci-fi action movies and none of the other Predator films that have been released since then have managed to reach that bar. I’ve been waiting for another great predatory movie, but after all the crappy Predator films that have been made over the years, I didn’t think it was possible.

Then, all of a sudden, the movie Prey comes out. It doesn’t even have “Predator” in the title! I’ve been burned by this franchise so many times that I made sure to keep my expectations in check. I honestly thought I was going to be let down again… but that’s not what happened.

Director Dan Trachtenberg went out and made one of the best and most badass Predator movies since the original film! Prey finally reached that bar set by the first film, and it was an awesome and glorious sight to behold! Holy shit! It was great!

I’ve seen it a couple of times already, once on the big screen and once at home. The movie is set to be exclusively released on Hulu, but this movie deserves to be seen in a theater! We finally get an incredible Predator movie, a movie that fans are going to flip over, and you won’t be able to watch it on the big screen?! That’s madness and a huge missed opportunity. It makes me sad.

Prey is set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago and the story follows a Predator who is dropped on Earth to start hunting and he finds himself facing off with a tribe of Comanche warriors.

The main character is a young woman named Naru, who is a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, and she is looking to prove that she can also be a great hunter. When danger threatens her tribe, she sets out on a journey to protect her people.

She unexpectedly finds herself confronting and fighting the alien predator who is loaded with a technically advanced arsenal of weapons, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

I loved the character Naru. She was played by Amber Midthunder, and was freakin’ awesome in the role! This young actress has a great career in front of her. She is one of the main reasons why this movie is as spectacular as it is! She kicked so much ass!

I also thought the look of this new Predator was fierce and ferocious. It had a different look than anything we’ve seen before, and this thing was nightmarishly savage. It was a lot of fun watching him on the hunt and brutally killing anything that he deems a worthy opponent.

The action sequences in the film were also extremely well made, and they exploded with high intense energy. There’s also plenty of graphic blood and gore for you to enjoy! I hope you all enjoy this film as much as i did!
