Review RAMBO: LAST BLOOD Is Like a Lifetime Movie... That's Savagely Violent

As a hardcore fan of Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo franchise, I was super stoked for Rambo: Last Blood! I thought I knew what I should expect from this movie before seeing it, but in certain ways, it was very different than any of the previous Rambo films. But, in other ways, it had exactly what I was hoping to see.

For me, the film’s story played out like one of those Lifetime original movies. Even the script and dialogue had the same tone and mediocracy of those kinds of films, which was off-putting for me. On top of that, the acting was weak and there were some aspects of the film that didn’t really make any sense.

In the film, Rambo is a troubled individual and is wrestling with PTSD as he takes care of his farm and his horses. He’s trying to live a peaceful life with his long-time family friend and estate manager Maria and his young niece. Well, after his niece ignores Rambo’s advice to stay out of Mexico after she finds out where her real dad is living, she ends up being kidnapped and thrust into sex slavery. So, Rambo goes after her and things end up going horribly wrong. These series of events lead Rambo to go on a rampage of bloody revenge!

Now, even though the film felt like a Lifetime movie, there was one big difference, and it’s the thing that all Rambo movies have in common... savage and brutal violence! Rambo: Last Blood might just be the most insanely violent movie in the franchise. It kind of took killing people to a whole new level.

So, while I didn’t really care for how the story was told, I enjoyed the hell out of watching Rambo utterly destroy the villains in the most wicked carnage ways! As you know, Rambo likes to get inventive with his kills and in this movie he doesn’t hold back he unleashes a hellish fury that would make the devil cower in fear.

The movie was directed by Adrian Grunberg (Get the Gringo) from a script written by Stallone and Matt Cirulnick. The movie also stars Adriana BarrazaPaz VegaYvette Monreal, Sergio Peris-MenchetaOscar Jaenadam, and Joaquín Cosío.

There are plenty of things to love and hate about this movie, but, when Rambo is in rabid attack mode, what’s not to like!? Isn’t that why we go to see these movies? Have you seen the movie yet? If so, what do you think?
