Review: SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY is My Favorite of The New Star Wars Films!

After all the reports of the behind the scenes drama on Solo: A Star Wars Story, a lot of fans were worried about the movie and how it might turn out. There were also a lot of people worried about Alden Ehrenreich’s portrayal of Han Solo. After all, it can't be easy to step into an iconic role that was previously filled by an iconic actor.

Well, stop worrying! The hype is real! Solo: A Star Wars Story is an insanely awesome movie and I’d go as far to say that it’s my favorite of the new Star Wars films that have been made so far! The movie was just an absolute blast! And from start to finish I was completely hooked and on the edge of my seat! I believe it's the best Star Wars film that has been made out of all the new movies.

I just had so much damn fun watching it! The action sequences were incredible, especially one main sequence that involved the Millennium Falcon and the Kessel Run. That sequence might just be one of the best in any Star Wars movie.

Not only was the action and VFX work amazing, but the story and script for the film were fantastic! Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon did a brilliant job crafting this story, and it was so fascinating to watch the story they crafted unfold and give us a look at what Han Solo was like before he met Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mos Eisley. This film gives us a better sense of who this character is and where he came from. It actually makes me appreciate him even more. Now when I rewatch the original films, I’ll be able to see the character in a slightly different light knowing what he had gone through.

Alden Ehrenreich’s performance as Han Solo was fantastic! He perfectly captures the spirit of the character and makes it his own. He doesn’t try to imitate or copy what Harrison Ford did, but the personality and mannerisms of the character are all there. I think fans will be pleasantly surprised with what Ehrenreich brings to the character. This is Han Solo!

Of course, I have to touch on Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian. The guy was born to play the young version of this character and he pulls it off perfectly. After seeing this movie, I would love to see a Lando spinoff film that focuses on his adventures. That could be incredible! There’s no doubt that everyone is going to love Lando in this movie. He steals every scene that he's in and he's some mesmerizing.

There was one new character introduced in the story that ended up being surprisingly awesome. That is the new droid L3-37 played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She managed to bring some great comic relief to the story that I think fans will enjoy. She has a whole equal rights for droids thing going on and it made for some amusing scenes.

I also loved the other characters that were introduced in the film. Woody Harrelson as Becket is a central part of the story and is the one who helps bring Han Solo into the dark underworld of that Star Wars universe. This includes introducing him to Paul Bettany’s Dryden Vos, who is a hardcore gangster that doesn’t take lightly to anyone screwing up a job. This guy is a cold-hearted villain!

Then there’s Emilia Clarke as Qi'ra.. She and Han Solo have a long history with each other and a lot of the story revolves around Solo’s love for her. I won’t say anything more than that. She certainly turns out to be a mysterious character that leads to a very cool unexpected surprise.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is a true blue Star Wars Film! I honestly don't see how Star Wars fans won't love this movie. It has everything that a true Star Wars story would have. Director Ron Howard set out to make a movie that stayed true to the spirit of the original Star Wars trilogy and he succeeded in that! In fact, I think that it stays more true to the spirit of Star Wars than The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi! Solo is that Star Wars movie that I didn't know I wanted. I loved this film so much and I hope that the rest of you Star Wars fan ended up loving it as well!
