Review: TERMINATOR: DARK FATE is The Badass Terminator Sequel Fans Have Been Waiting For

With James Cameron coming back to the Terminator franchise to develop the story for Terminator: Dark Fate and work with director Tim Miller in bringing that story to life, a lot of fans of the original films had high hopes that it would be good. I know I did, and I really liked the footage of the film that was shared in the trailers! It looked like we might actually finally get the badass Terminator movie that we were all hoping for, so… did we?

In my humble opinion, you’re damn right we did! This movie was a non-stop action fest that started out in a very surprising, strong way, then took you on a thrilling edge of your seat battle-filled ride that led to a very satisfying explosive conclusion.

This is easily the best Terminator movie to come out since Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Is it as good as Terminator 2: Judgement Day? No, of course not. But, I still had an absolute blast watching it and I think fans of the franchise will as well. Seeing Linda Hamilton back in the role of Sarah Connor on the big screen with Arnold Schwarzenegger was one of the most satisfying aspects of the film. She was awesome in the film and Cameron and Miller did a wonderful job picking up her story from T2 and leading it into the story that Dark Fate tells.

I won’t get into the details because there are some cool surprises on how this all plays out and I don’t want to ruin that for you. But, I’ve gotta say, the action in this movie is freakin’ glorious. I think that a lot of fans are going to flip over the big spectacular action scenes that this movie has to offer. That’s one aspect of the film that the filmmakers didn’t slack off on. They wanted to make sure that they made watching this movie a memorable experience.

Now, while the story for the film works, it does raise questions about some things. I can’t really discuss it at this point because the movie hasn’t been released yet, but as you watch the film I’m sure some of you will walk out of the movie with the same questions that I had. Hopefully, Cameron and Miller get to make their two sequels because maybe they will answer those questions.

I also thought the rest of the cast did a great job in the movie. McKenzie Davis was such a hardcore badass in this movie and I liked how she brought her character to life. Gabriel Luna gave a solid performance as the new Terminator killing machine. There’s really not that much emotion he had to convey. Then there was Natalia Reyes, who offered a decent performance, but there were aspects of her character that didn’t quite click into place. A lot of my questions revolve around her place in the future. Then there was Arnold Schwarzenegger there kicking ass, being funny, and doing his thing.

I’m just happy we finally got a decent Terminator sequel and I’m excited for fans to see it!
