Review: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE Tells a Powerful and Emotional Story of Military Service
Thank You For Your Service is an incredibly well-made film that tells the harrowing story of a group of U.S. soldiers who return to their homes after a long tour in Iraq. The movie is inspired by a true story about the struggles that these soldiers had to face and endure as they tried to integrate back into a normal civilian life. Unfortunately, this is not easy for any of them as they can’t shake the brutal memories of the war they fought in. The things they witnessed in war broke them in certain ways and now they have to find a way to live a normal life or it could lead them down a dark path that will destroy them.
The movie shows us the meaning of true sacrifice; from those who put the lives of others above their own. It’s truly a powerful and emotionally charged film. It was a hard movie for me to get through. Not because it was bad, but because I know people who have gone through similar experiences and situations and it really hit home for me. The movie left me an emotional mess. The fact that it was able to bring these emotions out in me and make me think about my own life, and how I’m living it, is a testament to how great of a film it was.
It’s a must watch film that deals with all kinds of issues, not only with what these soldiers are going through, but also with how they are treated by the government and country that they fought for. They certainly don’t make it easy for them and it brings out a lot of frustration because these men and women who sacrifice themselves for the country should be treated better.
The film was directed by Jason Hall and it had an incredible cast of actors. Miles Teller gave an incredible, heart-wrenching performance as Adam Schumann. This is easily one of his best performances yet. Haley Bennett played his wife in the film, and she was also amazing. One other notable performance came from Beulah Koale, who played a character named Solo. His performance was equally as powerful as Teller and Bennett. Amy Schumer was also in the movie, but it was a small role, which she was fine in, but the fact she was in such a serious movie kinda threw me off.
Thank You For Your Service is a movie that honors the men and women who have joined the military to fight for our country. If you liked what you’ve seen in the trailers for the film, then it’s a movie that you’ll definitely want to check out, because it’s as great as it looks.
