Review: THE MANDALORIAN Is The Best Thing To Happen To STAR WARS Since The Original Trilogy
The first episode of Lucasfilm and Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian was released with the launch of Disney+ and holy hell! This series looks like it’s going to be the best thing to happen to Star Wars since the original trilogy! While I’ve enjoyed the films that have been released under the Disney banner, this series is the most true to the original trilogy in the way that the story is told and the tone.
Hell, Maybe Lucasfilm should have hired Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni from the very beginning to usher in this new era of Star Wars! It’s kind of funny. I woke up at the butt-crack of dawn to watch this show. It felt like I was a kid again getting up early in the morning to watch my cartoons before going to school. Then as I watched the series, I was just filled with so much joy, happiness, and excitement! I felt like a kid again.
While I was already super excited about the series, this first episode exceeded my expectations. I loved how it kick-starts the story, especially with the ending. I won’t spoil what happens in case you haven’t watched the show yet, but needless to say, it was a big surprise that I didn’t see coming and I can’t wait to see what it means and what other surprises are revealed as I continue to watch! One of the things I love most about this series is the fact that it’s 100% a western.
I also have to give props to Pedro Pascal, who plays The Mandalorian. While we never see his face, he brings the perfect amount of gravitas to the character that perfectly brings this character to life.
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have delivered an incredible first episode and I imagine that the show is just going to get better and better as this story plays out. This is the Star Wars project that is going to reunite the fans and reinvigorate the love of Star Wars in the fans that have lost it in recent years. This series restores the natural order of Star Wars badassery!
