Review: The Razer Kaira Pro Could Be a Great Headset to Pair with Your New Xbox

It’s been almost two months since the launch of the Xbox Series X|S and only a couple of weeks since Christmas. For anyone who got a new Xbox, you may be wanting to jump online and get a new headset for you to chat with your friends while you play. A couple of months ago, Razer launched the Kaira Pro wireless gaming headset that can connect to your Xbox via Xbox Wireless or other devices via Bluetooth 5.0. Razer was kind enough to send me a pair to try out and they’ve been nice. You can grab a pair for yourself from Razer, GameStop, or your favorite gaming retailer.

First things first, this headset is designed for the Series X|S. I do not know if they will work on the Xbox One. I would like to assume that they do, but I cannot confirm how easy that works. Also, there is also the Kaira which is a little cheaper and doesn’t have the Bluetooth connection or the Razer Chroma RGB.

With all that business out of the way, let’s get to the meat and potatoes. This headset is good. While talking to people, they could hear me clearly and it even worked well for phone calls. The people I spoke to said that I came in crystal clear. I could also hear them crystal clear as well. What does this mean? They serve their purpose really well. If needed though, you can download the Razer Headset Setup for Xbox app on your Xbox or PC to tweak the lighting and EQ settings with up to 4 profiles available. My only complaint there is that I wish there was an app for Android as well.

In addition to sounding good, the headset is comfortable to wear overall. The one caveat is that no matter what the headset, I can only wear it for so long with my glasses before it gets uncomfortable. Sadly, the Kaira Pro is no different and while it can last longer than some of the other headsets I wear, it does eventually push the frames of my glasses too much into my head to be comfortable.

My main complaint with the Kaira Pro is that it turns the Xbox on. Normally, this wouldn’t be a negative, but there are times that I just want to use it as a Bluetooth headset, but even then it turns my console on. I wish the Bluetooth toggle was a switch instead of a button so that if I merely wanted to connect it to my phone or tablet, I wouldn’t then have to go and turn my Xbox off separately.

Overall, if you need a headset for your new Xbox or Bluetooth device and you want to go wireless, it’s hard to find faults with the Razer Kaira Pro. The battery lasts a good long while (although I ran into the problem where the status light never stayed on to tell me it was fully charged), it’s comfortable to wear, and the sound is good both in and out. When you look at prices, the $150 price tag really isn’t bad for a wireless headset for Xbox consoles and you get the bonus of being able to connect via Bluetooth. It is definitely worth considering.
