Review: THE WAR WITH GRANDPA Was Full of Laughs and Fun for the Whole Family
My family was able to view the film The War With Grandpa ahead of its release, and we had so much fun watching it! The film was full of hilarious and talented actors, including Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, Rob Riggle, Oakes Fegley, Laura Marano, Cheech Marin, Jane Seymour, and Christopher Walken.
In the film, Robert De Niro plays Ed, a man who lives alone after the death of his wife, who has trouble navigating some day to day problems, like walking out of the grocery store with his unbought items when he can’t figure out the self-checkout. After confronting these issues, it’s decided he will move in with his daughter (Thurman), and her family.
Once he is settled in their home, his grandson Peter (Fegley) is booted from his room to make a place for Grandpa, and is given the attic as a replacement. Peter decides that Grandpa better hand back over his room, or he will be forced to wage a war with his grandpa. Ed accepts the terms of war, and hilarity ensues. Grandpa and his friends team up against the youngsters, and after many pranks, things naturally get out of hand, and relationships within the family must be faced to find what truly binds them, and what stands in their way.
This movie was really fun to watch with my kids, as it is full of slapstick comedy, as well as a great story that made us feel good. We are used to watching new movies as a family all the time with Friday movie nights and frequent trips to the drive-in and movie theatre, but this year, we haven’t gotten nearly as much new content as usual. So it was nice to see something new, and enjoy a movie that had something for everyone.
The War With Grandpa is available today in theaters. Check it out with your family, and enjoy!
