Review: TROLLS WORLD TOUR Is a Fun Sequel With Great Music and a Positive Message

This week, my husband and I decided to reward our kids for cleaning the house and having a good week by ordering the sequel Trolls World Tour for an at-home viewing. This felt like the best thing we could do, as we definitely would have been seeing the film on its opening weekend under normal circumstances.

The sequel followed the trolls you remember from the first movie, Poppy (Anna Kendrick), Branch (Justin Timberlake), and their friends, as they move through the different musical Troll lands, trying to stop the hard-rocking troll Barb (Rachel Bloom) from stealing the strings from each land in the quest to get rid of every musical genre but rock.

This was a great movie that made me laugh out loud throughout. It had great music of all genres, both familiar songs you and the kids can sing along with and original music made for the film. It had a wonderful message of equality and inclusivity, and our whole family really enjoyed it.

We rented the movie on Vudu, and we were given a $5 coupon for a future purchase, which we immediately used to buy Sonic the Hedgehog, which was another movie we loved this year. We were givenTrolls World Tour for 48 hours, and the kids are currently on their third viewing of it, so hopefully, they get their fix until it’s available to purchase!

The film welcomed back the voices of Kendrick and Timberlake, as well as James Corden, Ron Funches, Kunal Nayyar, and more, including cameos from Zooey Deschanel and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. (Watch through the mid-credits scene!) Newcomers to the cast include Bloom, Ozzy Osbourne, Kelly Clarkson, Sam Rockwell, George Clinton, Mary J. Blige, Kenan Thompson, Flula Borg, Jamie Dornan, Karan Soni, Charlyne Yi, and more.

Trolls World Tour is worth the watch if you have kids who are fans of the original!
