Review: WE BARE BEARS: THE MOVE Is Incredible
Cartoon Network recently launched We Bare Bears: The Movie on VOD. Being a big fan of the television series, I naturally had to buy and watch it ASAP. Well, I’ve seen the film, and I loved it! There were a few things I would’ve changed, but if you enjoy the series, you’ll enjoy this movie.
The film features the bears getting up to their lovable antics, but the people have finally had enough. This creates the main conflict as they’re hunted down by a crazy nature preservationist. Well, the adventure begins and it’s a really enjoyable 68 minutes. The jokes are fantastic and the writing is spot-on. I almost cried in a few places. I will say that if your children are younger, you may want to watch the movie without them first as there are some very intense moments. However, you know your kids better than I.
I want to talk about some things I would’ve liked to see in the film, but doing so will spill some spoilers. This is your warning.
The big thing that I would’ve liked to see is more action from their friends. We briefly see their friends during the intro song, then when Trout tries taking the bears away, and then at the very end. They all voice their objections, but then do literally nothing to help their friends. Charlie does steal the police van which is nice, but why didn’t we see Chloe, Tabes, or even Darrell do something? Even if it was a thing where they showed up towards the end with papers or a lawyer proving the bears could stay would’ve been great. I just have a hard time believing their friends would’ve done nothing, and it would’ve been nice to see some effort on their parts.
That’s really it. That’s all I would’ve changed. I know that this may not be considered a spoiler by many, but I just wanted to voice my great appreciation for the little Mystery Machine cameo. My wife had joked about the bears making their van look like the iconic car, but then to see the Mystery Machine in the film was hilarious.
