Revisit the History of Video Games and Developer Midway Games with INSERT COIN

If you love learning about the history of video games, you’ll want to check out Joshua Tsui’s latest documentary Insert Coin. This film dives into the history and legacy of Midway Games who was one of the biggest developers back in the 90s. They came out with Mortal Kombat, Narc, and NBA Jam to name a few of their titles. What’s even crazier is that Tsui worked on the Mortal Kombat franchise with his face being used for Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat IV.

Tsui said:

Putting together Insert Coin was a wonderful trip down memory lane, but it’s also so much more than that. This film documents a true paradigm shift in gaming, and Midway Games was instrumental in bringing fun, competitive titles from the arcade to the living room. I’m beyond excited to share this journey with our viewers, and hope they have as much fun watching it as we did making it.

If this sounds like your kind of documentary, you can check it out now from Alamo Drafthouse.
