Rhys Ifans Joins The FOR ALL MANKIND Spinoff Series STAR CITY
For All Mankind is getting a spinoff series titled Star City, and we’ve just learned that Rhys Ifans is set to star in the series, which is set up at Apple TV+.
The series will return to the beginning of For All Mankind’s alternative timeline, in which the Soviets are the first to reach the moon.
The official description for the show describes it as “a propulsive, paranoid thriller that takes us back to the key moment in the alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon.
“But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humanity forward.”
For All Mankind creators Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi. Nedivi and Wolpert will serve as showrunners.
Wolpert and Nedivi shared in a statement: “Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown with every season of For All Mankind.
“The more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race.”
Ifans will star as the Chief Designer, who is described as “the driving force behind the Soviet Space program.”
I’m a big fan of For All Mankind. I think that it’s a great show and I’m looking forward to seeing how this new spinoff show turns out. I have no doubt Star City will be just as good and interesting as For All Mankind.
