Rian Johnson Discusses His KNIVES OUT Sequel Saying It's Been a "Mind F***"
Director Rian Johnson’s Knives Out was an incredibly entertaining murder mystery. There were lots of fun twists and turns that kept audiences on their toes. It also has such an awesome ensemble cast of actors!
Well, not long after the film was released, Johnson was ready to start work on a sequel. It was already reported that the sequel will include Daniel Craig’s detective character, Benoit Blanc along with a brand new case to solve, and a whole new ensemble cast.
When previously talking about the sequel, Johnson said, “all bets are off. It’s a totally new cast.” In a recent interview with Interview magazine, Johnson discussed the film a little bit and what it’s been like for him working on it:
“It’s been such a mindfuck, because I sat on the idea for the first one for 10 years. And with this one, I’m starting with a blank page. It’s not really a Knives Out sequel. I need to come up with a title for it so I can stop calling it The Knives Out Sequel because it’s just Daniel Craig as the same detective with a totally new cast.”
I imagine we won’t have any kind of real details to share on the film for awhile, but it’s good to know that Johnson is working on it. I just hope he’s able to tell another compelling and twisted murder mystery with Craig’s Detective Benoit Blanc. I also do like the fact that he is going to bring a whole new ensemble cast. That will make things more interesting and fun.
