Rian Johnson Explains The Reason Behind Kylo Ren's Scar Change in THE LAST JEDI
If you've been following the analysis of Star Wars: The Last Jedi's trailer, you know that there are some inconsistencies between Kylo Ren's scar in The Force Awakens versus the brief look we get of him in Episode VIII...here's a great picture from Game Rant that shows you the difference between the two...
Now that the cat is out of the bag, director Rian Johnson stepped up with an explanation as to why Ren's scar has changed:
@origonalname113 @mutlubulutlar @StarWarsNewsNet @TheLastKylo It was my decision to slightly adjust it, and that was my justification. It honestly looked goofy running straight up the bridge of his nose

Fair enough. While I'm sure some people will bitch about consistency, let's not forget that Vader had a different variation of his suit in every movie that he's been in. Granted, that's less radical than changing a cosmetic scar, but it is an aesthetic change nonetheless. I like the new scar better than the old one, what about you?
