Richard Gere Joins Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain in Apple TV Limited Series OFF WEEKS

Richard Gere is heading back to prestige television with a high-profile role in Apple TV’s upcoming limited series Off Weeks, joining Jessica Chastain and Ben Stiller in what’s shaping up to be an intense and emotionally charged drama.

The eight-episode series comes from Apple TV and continues to build an impressive ensemble. Alongside Gere, the cast includes Arian Moayed and Annaleigh Ashford, rounding out a lineup that leans heavily on strong character-driven storytelling.

The series centers on Gus Adler, played by Stiller, a writing professor whose life is thrown off balance by divorce. The official logline explains exactly how precarious his situation becomes:

“When divorce throws writing professor Gus Adler’s (Stiller) life into chaos, he struggles to hold things together during ‘on weeks’ when he has custody of his kids. But in his ‘off weeks,’ he’s falling dangerously in love with Stella West (Chastain), a mysterious woman whose arrival puts Gus’ on-week duties and off-weeks ambitions on a fatal collision course.”

Details surrounding Gere’s character are being kept tightly under wraps, but his involvement alone adds real weight to the project. This marks another major streaming role for Gere following his work on The Agency: Central Intelligence, and it’s a reminder of how selective his recent TV choices have been.

Gere’s delivered iconic performances in An Officer and a Gentleman, American Gigolo, Pretty Woman, Primal Fear, and Chicago. His work earned Golden Globe nominations for An Officer and a Gentleman and Pretty Woman, and he took home a win for Chicago.

Stiller executive produces through Red Hour alongside John Lesher. Chastain executive produces with Kelly Carmichael under the Freckle Films banner. Alissa Nutting, known for Made for Love and Teenage Euthanasia, serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Michael Showalter directs and developed the series with Semi-Formal Productions, executive producing with Jordana Mollick. Additional executive producers include Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher.
