RICK AND MORTY Producer Says The Upcoming Anime Series Will Be "Authentic"
It’s been fun watching Rick and Morty play in the world of anime with a few shorts that have previously been released. Those anime shorts have been a huge success, and because of that we will be getting a whole new series, Rick and Morty: The Anime.
The series is being directed by Takashi Sano, who previously directed the awesome anime shorts Rick and Morty vs. Genocider and Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil).
Sano previously said in a statement, “The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion. It’s such a life-affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception. I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!”
Now producer Scott Marder recently spoke to GamesRadar+ about the spin-off ahead of Rick and Morty season 6’s return, and he promised it would be an “authentic” take on style:
“I think it’ll really be authentic and unto itself. It’s not trying to dip into the [main] show in too hard a way. Adult Swim has been really good at making these satellite art pieces that are just additive, like a bonus. I think this will be a lot like that.”
I’m pretty excited about seeing what the creative team has in store for this! There’s still no release date yet for the anime series, but it was reported earlier this year that it will consist of 10 episodes. Season 6 of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty is returning later this November.
