RICK AND MORTY Producer Says Show "Has Gotten Better" Since Justin Roiland Was Fired
Rick and Morty is such a great and fun animated show, but there has also been a lot of behind-the-scenes drama surrounding it. As you know, co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland was fired following accusations made against him, and apparently, there was a lot of inappropriate workplace behavior.
Well, executive producer Steve Levy, who is behind the upcoming Season 7 of the Adult Swim series recently talked about what things have been like without Roiland’s involvement, and he said that the show has only gotten better. He also praised the team working on the show, saying:
"The work that we're doing across the board has only gotten better. When the new season comes out, we'll focus on how amazing it all turned out. We hope the fans will realize that this is the same old show, maybe even better!"
When talking about Roiland’s exit and how that affected them, Levy said:
"We had a rug pulled from underneath us. The only people we could lean on were each other. It would have been very easy to just say, 'I'm done and I don't want to do anything with this show anymore.' But our crew said, 'No, we're not going to let one person drag down all of our hard work.'"
Levy also opened up about the drive that the Rick and Morty team had as pushed through to make Season 7 happen and how everything has improved with the big changes:
"This show is created by this team — this family of incredibly hardworking people, and we are going to push through and show the world that we aren't going to miss a beat. The work that we're doing across the board has only gotten better. When the new season comes out, we'll focus on how amazing it all turned out. We hope the fans will realize that this is the same old show, maybe even better!"
Rick and Morty Season 7 currently doesn’t have a release date and they have yet to announce who’s replacing Roiland in the voice acting roles.
