Rick Moranis Was Attacked in New York City and the Assailant Is Still at Large
Rick Moranis, one of my favorite actors from the 80s and 90s, was recently attacked in New York City by some random asshole who, for no reason, punched him in the face. Oh, and there’s also a surveillance video of it.
67-year-old Moranis was walking in New York City’s Upper West Side near his apartment when he was struck on Central Park West around West 70th Street. Police said the assailant remains at large. The attacker is wearing black, including an “I Love NY” sweatshirt.
Multiple reports say that Moranis sought treatment at “a local hospital for pain in his head, back and right hip before reporting the attack at a police station.”
Moranis has slowly been coming out of retirement to do certain little projects here and there, and he’s set to reprise his role in the upcoming Honey, I Shunk The Kids reboot Shrunk with Josh Gad. But after this attack, who knows, maybe he’ll go back into again retirement for good.
Moranis, whose credits also include Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Spaceballs, and Ghostbusters, retreated from Hollywood more than 20 years ago after the death of his wife, Ann. The reason was to focus on raising their two children. From what I’ve heard, the guy is a sweet and selfless human being, and for something like this to happen to him or anyone is totally uncalled for. Hopefully they catch the guy.
I honestly don’t know what this world is coming to. It seems like everything is just falling apart in this country, and I’m not a big fan of how people are treating other people right now. We are seeing things like this happening all the time these days. In a time when we should be coming together, we are more divided than ever, and it makes me sad.
