Ridley Scott is Looking to Introduce Ellen Ripley's Parents Into His ALIEN Prequels
Ridley Scott isn't done making his Alien prequels. In fact, he seems confident enough that he'll get to make at least two more films. There's been talk in the past regarding Sigourney Weever's Ellen Ripley and if we'll ever see her make an appearance in some form. Maybe we'll eventually even see a CGI version of the character.
Ripley is the cornerstone of the Alien franchise, which is why fans want to know if she will ever be introduced back into the films. Well, Scott has an idea that he recently shared involving Ripley, and that is the possibility of introducing her parents. During a recent Q&A on Instagram, Scott Said:
"We’re heading toward the back end of the first Alien so [using CG] may be feasible. I don’t think it’ll... but Ripley’s going to be somebody’s daughter. Obviously. We’re coming in from the back end. The time constraints, of what’s the time between this film, where we leave David going off heading for that colony, I think you’re probably two films out from even considering her."
So before Scott even considers bringing Ripley into the mix, he wants to make two more films before he even considers it. One of which will most likely introduce us to her parents.
Look, I love Ripley, but I don't need to see her introduced in any of these prequel films. Alien is the perfect and only introduction we need for the character. I just wish Neill Blomkamp would have been able to continue her story with his Aliens sequel! What a missed opportunity.
I haven't been the biggest fan of Scott's recent Alien prequel films. Both Prometheus and Covenant were disappointments. I know not all of you feel the same way, which is cool, I respect that, but I personally just can't get past the stupidity of the characters. Regardless, it definitely seems like Scott is going to keep going and make more Alien prequel films. If he does I hope there's a crazy awesome payoff.
