Ridley Scott Will Start Shooting The Next ALIEN Film Within 14 Months

Ridley Scott has already got his next Alien film ready to go. The filmmaker has already made a long-term plan for the franchise by pumping out five more films. He's previously said that the script for the next film, which takes place after Alien: Covenant is pretty much done. Now, in a recent interview with IGN, he reveals that he and his team are still working on the script and that he will be "filming that within 14 months", so he's jumping right back into it!

It looks like he's actually going to follow through with his plans. The director was then asked if he planned to resolve unanswered questions about the Alien universe in these future movies that he's planning, and he explained that he left the story "wide open" for this very reason, explaining, "That's why I'm doing it, so you're asking these questions."

Scott previously revealed that the next movie would be called Alien: Awakening. Whether or not that title sticks has yet to be seen. He also went on to give a complete rundown of where the franchise is heading. In case you missed or forgot, here are the details that he spilled:

"There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien," he said. 

We asked Scott what the timeline looked like -- would it be Prometheus, Covenant and then this next movie before we arrive at the events of the original Alien. That's when the answer became a bit foggy as it appears he slips in the title for another movie we haven't seen yet and positions it between Prometheus and Covenant. 

"It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant.. fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the way...."

Waterston cut in again to stop Scott from spoiling any more information. "You're giving away too much!" she screamed. "But yes, there will be more after this. I think that was the question." To which Scott replied, "If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more."

The guy seems to know exactly what he wants out of this franchise, and it's exciting to know that all of this will be leading up to the events of the original Alien film. I really hope that Alien: Covenant is good. I'm excited to see it and see how it sets up this next Alien film that Scott is currently developing.
