Ridley Scott Working on a Sci-Fi Series Lineup for TNT
With the release of Alien: Covenant this past weekend comes news that the movie's director, Ridley Scott, is developing a Science Fiction block of programming for the cable network TNT. Scott will develop one night of original sci-fi programming that will showcase several formats including an hour long series, short form programs and other formats in collaboration with TNT.
Scott told Deadline:
“Being given the creative license to generate and develop science fiction programming in a variety of formats for TNT is very exciting. This genre is one of my favorites, and there are an infinite amount of original and innovative story ideas out there that we are looking forward to exploring with TNT. It is very exciting for all of us.”
TNT is excited about this deal as they believe Scott can "create a programming block filled with the kind of imaginative, awe-inspiring storytelling that has made science fiction such a beloved and enduring genre. Ridley Scott has created some of the best and most popular science-fiction movies of all time, and we look forward to bringing his fans even more of his smart, sophisticated stories.”
This is a great idea, to give creative control to one of the Sci-Fi genre's greatest directors of all time. I'm looking forward to seeing what Scott and TNT come up with for this science fiction block.
