Ridley Scott's Napoleon Film KITBAG with Joaquin Phoenix is Set Up at Apple Studios

A few months ago it was announced that director Ridley Scott was teaming up with Joaquin Phoenix for a new film project titled Kitbag, which involves the French military leader and emperor Napoleon.

Apple Studios has jumped on board to fund and produce the project, the script of which was written by David Scarpa, who previously worked with Scott on All the Money in the World.

The story for the film will give us an “original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine.”

It’s also explained that the intention of the film is “to capture Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.”

Scott most recently wrapped The Last Duel, an historical epic with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Adam Driver. His next project is Gucci, which stars Lady Gaga as the murderess Patrizia Reggiani alongside Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Adam Driver, and Jared Leto. The director plans on directing Kitbag after that.
