Riley Keough Hired to Star in Series Adaptation of DAISY JONES AND THE SIX at Amazon
Actress Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road, Logan Lucky) has been hired to star in the series adaptation of Daisy Jones and The Six at Amazon. The series is based on the novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and has a twelve episode first season ordered at the streamer. Niki Caro (North Country, The Zookeeper’s Wife) has signed on to direct multiple episodes, with writing team Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (500 Days of Summer, The Fault in Our Stars, The Disaster Artist) adapting it for the small screen.
The story goes as follows:
The series is a musical drama detailing the rise and fall of a renowned rock band in the 1970s. Keough’s Jones is described as born into privilege but ignored by her selfish parents. She is a spirited and enigmatic singer/songwriter who comes of age and rises to rock superstardom against the backdrop of the L.A. music scene in the 1970s.
Keough made her feature debut in the biopic of the 1970’s girl group The Runaways, so this is not new territory for the actress. This is a pretty cool time period and place in musical history, so this could turn out to be an awesome series.
