Riley Keough Joins Chris Pratt's Action Movie THE TERMINAL LIST
Riley Keough (Hold The Dark, The Lodge, It Comes At Night) is the latest actor to join the cast of Chris Pratt’s upcoming Amazon action thriller series The Terminal List. Keough joins the previously cast Taylor Kitsch and Constance Wu.
Pratt takes on the role of former Navy SEAL James Reece and Kitsch will play Ben Edwards, another former SEAL and the best friend of Reece.
The series is based on Jack Carr’s bestselling novel. The story follows Reece “after his entire platoon of SEALS is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. When Reece returns home to his family, he questions his own culpability with muddled memories of the event. However, as new evidence comes to light, Reece discovers dark forces working against him. Edwards uses his CIA Ground Branch access and operator skillset to help Reece seek his vengeance.”
Keough will play a character named Lauren Reece, “an elite triathlete and a warrior in her own right. Lauren has balanced her career with raising their daughter Lucy and providing vital support to other platoon families when her husband James and his SEAL Troop are deployed. While the majority of SEAL marriages fall apart, Lauren and James have made it through on honesty, mental toughness, and undying love.”
Wu will be playing Katie Buranek, “a risk-seeking war correspondent who uses her byline to speak truth to power. Katie left her desk at a prestigious news outlet to pursue high-impact stories on her own terms. Now at a crossroads in her career, Katie finds an unlikely ally in rogue Navy SEAL James Reece. She seeks to re-enter the mainstream by bringing the truth about Reece and the conspiracy he’s fighting against to light.”
The series is being written by David DiGilio, who also serves as showrunner. This has been a passion project for Pratt, who is the one that initially acquired the rights to the novel and brought in Antoine Fuqua to direct. The author of the book is a former Navy SEAL and Special Ops team leader, and he is also attached to executive produce.
To help with authenticity, the show will bring in veterans and their families “as part of multiple aspects of the series production, starting with writing. Half the show’s writing staffers are either veterans themselves or have veterans in their families.”
