RISE OF THE DUELIST Will Bring Gaia Back Plus a Lot of Support for Adamancipators, Rikkas, and More

Rise of the Duelist is an upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! set to look forward to on August 7. First, it’s sure to bring back Gaia decks with new forms of Gaia the Fierce Knight, Gaia the Dragon Champion, and Catapult Turtle. The reworked Gaia the Dragon Champion “stacks an extra 2600 ATK on to itself every time it wins a battle and can expend exactly that much ATK to destroy any card on the field without a fight!” Sounds like there’s some potential there.

Second, Noble Knights are coming back with Infernoble Knights. These new knights utilize Synchro Summoning and Equip Spells to get the best of their foes. Of course, they count as Noble Knights and therefore Heritage of the Chalice will be a great card to pick up. Plus, Infernoble Knight - Renaud and Infernoble Knight – Roland will be released before Rise of the Duelist in Toon Chaos, so keep an eye out for that.

Of course, new Spell and Trap Cards are also on their way including a new “Forbidden” Quick-Play Spell that negates effects and halves attacks of monsters. Plus, everyone’s now talking about Three Tactical Talents which is a combination of 3 banned cards: Pot of Greed (I’m pretty sure it’s banned because no one understands what it does), The Forceful Sentry, and Change of Heart. The only catch is that you can only activate Three Tactical Talents if your opponent has already activated a monster effect during your Main Phase. This may seem difficult, but hand traps are a huge part of Yu-Gi-Oh! right now with most decks running three copies of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, plus several other options out there in common use.

Even with everything we’ve talked about, there’s still more exciting news. Rise of the Duelist will also feature a new “Chaos” Synchro Monster; an anti-Extra Deck Spellcaster theme; new Rikka, Adamancipator, Mathmech, and Dragonmaid themes; and 20 cards previously unavailable from “overseas promotions, pack-ins, and more.” I know a lot of people are using the Adamancipator cards right now and I’m partial to Rikkas, so this is very exciting news for me. What are you most excited about?
