RIVER CITY GIRLS ZERO Physical Copies Available For Preorder Now

WayForward is excited to announce their physical copies of River City Girls Zero for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch are available for preorder from now until March 14.

A digital release is also planned for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, as well as PC and the Xbox family of systems, in early 2022. Originally released in 1994 only in Japan, River City Girls Zero lets you play as Misako, Kyoko, Kunio, and Rikki as you punch and kick your way through town trying to absolve Kunio and Rikki of a crime they didn’t commit.

This game inspired the hit 2019 River City Girls, which is a fantastic game if you haven’t played it yet. Powered by Limited Run Games' Carbon Engine, the classic 16-bit graphics, soundtrack, and gameplay remain as faithful as possible to the original release, and are augmented with new opening and closing motion-comic cutscenes, a new animated intro, and additional music by River City Girls composer Megan McDuffee. I’m excited to see McDuffee has been able to contribute to this release since her music for the 2019 River City Girls fit the game so well.

This game will also be released in standard ($34.99), classic ($64.99), and ultimate ($149.99). The classic edition will include a soundtrack CD, double-sided 18"x24" poster, and retro-style box in addition to the game itself, while the Ultimate Edition ($149.99) includes everything in the Classic Edition plus exclusive, fully-articulated Misako and Kyoko action figures (with interchangeable hands and faces), a retro cartridge keychain, and a bonus digital game download code. If you’re a fan of River City Girls you won’t want to miss out on this.
