Riz Ahmed and Octavia Spencer Join a Sci-Fi Thriller Titled INVASION
Riz Ahmed and Octavia Spencer are set to star in an upcoming sci-fi thriller titled Invasion, which is coming from the BAFTA-winning UK filmmaker Michael Pearce, who directed Beast.
The story for Invasion follows “two young brothers who go on the run with their father, a decorated Marine (Ahmed), who is trying to protect them from an unhuman threat. As the journey takes them in increasingly dangerous and unexpected directions, the boys will need to confront hard truths and leave their childhood behind.”
This sounds like it’ll be an intense thriller, but it’s the talent involved with bringing the story to life that has gotten my attention. We’ve seen these kinds of sci-fi monster stories told over and over again throughout the years. There’s nothing really new to the concept, but it will be interesting to see what this creative team has planned for it!
The project is set up at Amazon Studios, and the script for the movie is being co-written by Pearce and Joe Barton (The Ritual). The film is aiming to shoot in the States this year.
