R.L. Stine Says That Sony is Looking To Make More GOOSEBUMPS Movies
Sony Pictures has already made two Goosebumps films and they’ve been developing a live-action reboot series based on R.L. Stine’s bestselling book series. That series is being produced by Scholastic Entertainment and Goosebumps movie producer Neal H. Moritz.
With the series in the works, I didn’t expect to see any more films get made, but during a recent interview with Y!, Stine said that there’s talk at Sony about more films, but he doesn’t offer up any other details.
The first two films weren’t huge hits, but they did make money. The first movie brought in $158M globally on a $58M reported budget. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween took in $93M on a reported $35M budget.
I didn’t really care for the films, as I felt there was a much better way to bring these classic horror stories to life in movie form. But, the studio and filmmakers just wanted to cram as many characters from the books as they possibly could into the films, and I wasn’t a fan of how they did that.
If they do decide to make more Goosebumps movies, I hope they do something different and are smarter with the adaptation of the property.
