Another one of R.L. Stein’s young adult horror novel series is being adapted and it will be a TV show based on his The Babysitter books. Lookout Entertainment recently tweeted out the news that they are developing it and I’m sure that a lot of fans will be excited about that.

The first novel in the series was published in 1989, and it followed a babysitter who finds she is the next in a series of babysitting victims to a crazed killer. There were three sequels to the book that consists of The Babysitter II in July 1991, The Babysitter III in October 1993 and The Babysitter IV in June 1995.

Here’s the official description of the first book in the series, which I imagine the first season of the series will cover:

From the minute that Jenny accepts the Hagen baby-sitting job, she knows she has made a terrible mistake. First there is the dark and gloomy Hagen house, filling her with dread and horror. Then the crank phone calls start. When she finds a threatening note in her bag, she realizes that this isn't a harmless game.

Sounds like the kind of series my girls will enjoy watching. Some of Stine’s other adaptations include a Just Beyond series for Disney+, a trilogy of Fear Street movies, and a brand new Goosebumps live-action series.
