Rob Cohen to Direct Film Adaptation of the Comic Book RAZOR

We have so many comic book movies nowadays, and they are all trying to make something different. It seems like it's almost impossible. But nevertheless, Rob Cohen, who has brought us some of the best mindless action films of all time including xXx and The Fast and the Furious, has decided to do just that.

Cohen is going to direct a film version of the comic Razor. Razor is a very punk S&M looking heroine with 80's hair and makeup, who doesn't feel pain. Cohen also wrote the screenplay based on writer Everette Hartsoe's comic. And just in case you want even more Cohen, he also is a producer alongside Jeff Most.

What interests me the most about this comic isn't necessarily the character or the story, but rather it's conception. Hartsoe wrote this book to mourn his sister's death who was murdered when he was 15 years old. He created the hero Razor as a dangerous young woman who cannot feel pain. So many heroes are created out of different things, but so few are born of such tragedy of a writer. Cohen is very excited about this film, and had this to say:

I have loved 'Razor' since its first publication. It has operatic themes, female empowerment, revenge, action, a love story, all shrouded in a delicious darkness that fits our time.

I trust you, Rob. Your films may be silly and over the top, but you love what you do and it shows in your films. I can't wait to see what you come out with and pray it gives us a heroine to look at that is better than Bloodrayne.
