Rob Reiner Relaunches His Castle Rock Production Company with $175 Million Cash Infusion
Rob Reiner’s Castle Rock Entertainment production company is being revived! Castle Rock was founded in 1987 and its purpose was to allow creative freedom to individuals; a haven away from the pressures of studio executives. Castle Rock was to make films of the highest quality, whether they made or lost money.
Some of the films it produced over the years include When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, In the Line of Fire, City Slickers, Misery, Needful Things, Dolores Claiborne, The Green Mile, The American President, and The Shawshank Redemption. On the TV side, Castle Rock produced one of the most successful comedy series in history with Seinfeld.
Reiner is CEO of the company with co-presidents Michele Reiner and Matthew George. They have a $175 million cash infusion that will be used to develop, produce and finance feature films. Reiner shared in a statement:
“I couldn’t be more thrilled. The Castle Rock lighthouse has always signaled a safe harbor for the creative community. With this relaunch, we will be able to continue the tradition of providing an environment for filmmakers to do their best work.”
I’m a fan of a lot of the films that Castle Rock made over the years and I’m pretty excited to learn that it’s making a comeback with Reiner at the helm!
