Rob Zombie Explains That Making His HALLOWEEN Reboot Films Was a Miserable Experience

The Halloween franchise took a turn for the worse when Rob Zombie jumped on board to direct a reboot and a sequel to that reboot. While some fans liked the films, I didn’t. I just didn’t care for how the character was handled.

Anyway, making Halloween and Halloween II was not a pleasant experience for Zombie. In a recent interview with Forbes, the filmmaker explained that working on these films were miserable for him, and it’s all because of Harvey Weinstein.

“Making Halloween with the Weinsteins was a miserable experience for me. And so I was very reticent to do the second one. I did do the second one, and I thought, ‘Okay, well the first one was a miserable experience, but it did well, so maybe it’ll be easier the second time?’ It was worse. Oh my God. I felt like they weren’t trusting me on the first one because they wanted to make sure it was a hit and now they weren’t trusting me not to fuck up their hit.”

Well, no wonder the film sucked! Zombie was miserable while he was making them and the real people pulling the strings were the movie executives. Very rarely do stressed film productions like this pump out a good product, especially when the filmmaker doesn’t really love the film he’s making.

Zombie went on to say that there was a behind-the-scenes documentary for the making of Halloween that shows all of the drama that went on during production, but it will never see the light of day:

“We made a behind the scenes documentary for the making of Halloween. That has somehow gotten lost in the vaults. That shows how messed up everything was and what was going on when we were making those movies.”

Now, that’s a doc that I want to see! It would be super interesting to see what exactly went on during the production of these films and how bad it really got.
