Rob Zombie's THE MUNSTERS Movie - Concept Art, Herman Munster Design, and More
Director Rob Zombie has been sharing some concept art and design work on Instagram for his upcoming film adaptation of The Munsters. These social media posts feature a Herman Munster design being worked on, the design of the creepy and iconic Mockingbird Lane house, the location of the house, and some concept art showing Herman and Lilly in their pajamas. There are a few other things that you’ll see below as well.
You can check all of those images out below and they all come with notes from the filmmaker. As you’ll see, it looks like he’s sticking close to the source material for the film, which makes me happy.
Rob Zombie announced that he was making this movie a couple of months ago, saying, “Attention Boils and Ghouls! The rumors are true! My next film project will be the one I’ve been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! Stay tuned for exciting details as things progress!”
I grew up watching reruns of this show. I loved it as a kid! I would love nothing more than for this movie to be great, but I haven’t really cared for any of Zombie’s past films. When I first heard that he was directing the film and I imagined what that looked like, I imagined the Munster family as a bunch of hillbilly monsters living in the backwoods of the south, capturing and brutally murdering any outsiders who pass through.
Thankfully, it doesn't look like that’s the direction he’s going to take the film. He seems to have a love for this franchise, and I don’t think he’s looking to screw that up. It seems like he’s looking to keep the same lighthearted spirit that the original show had. I hope he can pull it off and deliver something the fans will enjoy and appreciate.
