Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon Join Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER
Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon have joined Cillian Murphy is director Christopher Nolan’s next film project, Oppenheimer. It was previously reported that Emily Blunt is also in talks to join the cast.
The movie centers on J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb. The film has been described as an “epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.”
There’s no information on who Downey Jr. or Damon will be playing in the film. Murphy is playing Oppenheimer, and Blunt will end up playing his wife if cast. Nolan wanted to bring together an all-star ensemble cast for the film, and that’s exactly what he’s doing.
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.
The movie is set to be released on July 21, 2023.
