Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds' Rumored Feud on AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Set Sparks Speculation, but Sources Say It’s Nonsense

There’s been a lot of noise swirling around Avengers: Doomsday, and one of the more eyebrow-raising rumors is that Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds clashed on set during filming. While some reports painted a picture of egos colliding and Marvel scrambling to keep the peace, the story might not be all it’s cracked up to be.

The origin of the rumor seems to trace back to industry insiders like Jeff Sneider and John Rocha. They mentioned some on-set tension, but they never specifically named Downey or Reynolds. Still, that didn’t stop speculation from spiraling across social media.

Then came the big headline from the Express Tribune, claiming that Downey was unhappy with the performance of his body double in the Doctor Doom suit.

According to “multiple insiders,” that dissatisfaction led to three weeks of reshoots, with Downey stepping into the suit himself. That decision reportedly jacked up the production budget by “millions.”

The same report claimed that “a poorly timed joke” from Reynolds sparked a confrontation between the two actors, “resulting in a tense standoff.” It even suggested Marvel Studios had to adjust their filming schedules to “ease tensions.”

It all sounds like classic behind-the-scenes drama… but TMZ has since stepped in to shut it down.

According to a source close to the production, “the internet subculture devoted to Marvel conjecture cooked up a story that there was a verbal fight” between Downey and Reynolds. But apparently, “they've never actually met in person!”

TMZ adds that the two stars “have a friendly relationship” and have even talked about a potential cameo by Downey in Deadpool & Wolverine. Their source emphasized, “Ryan has nothing but respect and adulation for RDJ.”

So yeah, sounds like this one’s more smoke than fire. Sure, actors butt heads all the time while making movies, and some early whispers did suggest a disagreement between cast members, but if there was any tension at all, it clearly didn’t linger.

As for that reshoot claim? That’s another one to take with a grain of salt. All of this remains in the realm of fan speculation.

Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most talked-about projects in years, both on and off screen. But for now, the supposed beef between Downey and Reynolds is just a pure rumor that most likely isn’t true.
