Robert Eggers NOSFERATU Horror Film Delayed after Harry Styles Drops Out of Project
Director Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse, Northman) has been developing a remake of the iconic 1922 vampire film Nosferatu over the past several years. Five years ago Anya Taylor-Joy joined the project, and at some point in development Harry Styles joined the project as well.
Eggers has been preparing to start production on the film and he was supposed to be in Prague shooting. But, according to The New Yorker, a week before that was supposed to move there, Styles ended up pulling out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. So, the project has been put on hold until they can find an actor to replace Styles. It was also explained that Jarin Blaschke, Eggers's cinematographer, had already enrolled his daughter in school in Prague.
Nosferatu is an unauthorized film adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. The story follows a vampire named Count Orlok from Transylvania who expresses interest in a new residence in Germany. This is where he becomes infatuated with his real-estate agent’s wife.
The filmmaker has a history with Nosferatu, as he produced a remake of it for his senior-year project. He also played Count Orlok in “a scene-for-scene re-creation of the silent film, complete with intertitles and sibling gargoyles.”
I’m a big fan of the original movie, and I’ve been looking forward to seeing what Eggers new film vision for it will be.
