Robert Pattinson Said He'd Actually Be Down to Return to the TWILIGHT Franchise If It Ever Came Up
Robert Pattinson has played some great characters over the years, and he continues to choose interesting and offbeat roles.
After his small but impactful role in Harry Potter brought him some fame, his career reached incredible heights when he took on the role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise, based on the uber popular book series by Stephenie Meyer.
Pattinson played the teen vampire across the four films that were box office hits, despite their campy acting, which lead them to the cult classic status they hold today with their diehard fan base.
Both lead actors in the films have moved on to more serious roles, sometimes rolling their eyes at the films that started it all and the intense fame they begrudgingly shouldered because of it. But when Pattinson was asked if he would ever consider returning to the franchise, he was shockingly open to the idea.
In a recent interview opposite actress Jennifer Lawrence on Vanity Fair’s lie detector segment, Lawrence asked, “If they were gonna direct a new Twilight, would you do it?,” to which Pattinson responded without hesitation, saying, “Oh yeah, for sure.”
Lawrence was surprised by his answer and jokingly said, “I don’t think you should, but okay.” The actor replied with a laugh, “It’d be great. I like taking jobs of younger actors…I wanna play 17 again.” Pattinson’s comment was confirmed as truthful by the polygraph examiner.
This admission of course had fans speculating online about the possibility of a new Twilight film, but the fact that it was brought up really does seem like it was just for the sake of conversation.
Pattinson is such a busy actor, it would be hard to get him signed on to anything new at this point anyway. Next year, he is set to appear in three films: The Drama, written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, in which Pattinson will star opposite Zendaya; Christopher Nolan’s star-studded epic, The Odyssey set to hit theaters in July; and Dune: Part Three which is set for a December release.
He will also reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in The Batman Part II, scheduled for release in 2027. Pattinson is currently filming Here Comes the Flood, in which he will star opposite Denzel Washington and Daisy Edgar-Jones.
