Robert Pattinson Talks About Trying on the Batsuit and Says He Was "F—ing Furious" When the Batman News Leaked

While some fans don’t like that fact that Robert Pattinson is playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in director Matt Reeves’s The Batman, there are a lot of fans that are excited to see him in the role. I’m one of them. I think Pattinson is going to be great in the role, and I’m excited to see what he and Reeves have planned for the character.

Pattinson recently sat down with Variety for an interview, and during that interview he talked about a few things regarding The Batman. He explained that he was “fucking furious” when the news he would be taking on the role leaked, and he also shared his experience of trying on the Batsuit.

“When that thing leaked, I was fucking furious. Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing.”

Pattinson went on to say he was in a panic on a flight to Cannes so he started looking for more information online because he thought the leak might have cost him the job. During this he realized that he was sitting next to Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie:

"I was sitting next to Christopher McQuarrie. I'd never met him before. Oh, God! He'd seen me Googling myself for the past hour!"

He went on to say that McQuarrie understood the situation. He told him, "No worries. I'd probably be doing the same thing." Pattinson added:

“To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting. It’s much more fun when you’re an underdog. There’s no expectation of you."

You can tell that Pattinson really wanted this job. He wanted to play Batman, and he’s very excited that he will get to play the character. The actor also shared his experience of trying on the Batsuit:

“I put it on. I remember saying to Matt, ‘It does feel quite transformative!’ He was like, ‘I would hope it does! You’re literally in the Batsuit. You do feel very powerful immediately. And it’s pretty astonishing, something that is incredibly difficult to get into, so the ritual of getting into it is pretty humiliating. You’ve got five people trying to shove you into something. Once you’ve got it on, it’s like, ‘Yeah, I feel strong, I feel tough, even though I had to have someone squeezing my butt cheeks into the legs.’”

Pattinson went on to talk about what makes Batman interesting, saying, “It’s actually an interesting part. I think it’s because he doesn’t have any superpowers.”

It’ll be interesting to see what this new version of the Batsuit will look like. I think Reeves is going to do a great job with this movie, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for it! The movie is set to hit theaters in June 25th, 2021.
