Robert Rodriguez is Developing a VR Action Series Called THE LIMIT with Michelle Rodriguez
Director Robert Rodriguez (Alita: Battle Angel) is diving into the world of virtual reality. He is set to develop an original VR action series called The Limit and Michelle Rodriguez (Fast and Furious) is set to star in it.
The series is a first-person POV series and it will be a part of STX’s pay-per-experience VR channel Surreal which is set to launch as an app on VR headsets in mid-2018.
The Limit is a completely original concept that will be written, directed and produced by Rodriguez and according to Deadline, the story follows Michelle Rodriguez as she plays "a genetically enhanced weapon of mass destruction hellbent on destroying the covert agency that created her."
That sounds like a lot of fun! The series, which was co-written by Racer Max, will be built from the ground-up as a native VR experience, and is being produced in "a new cinematic VR format that bridges the gap between traditional widescreen and 360-degree video."
The series started shooting in late January at Robert Rodriguez’s Double R Productions in Austin and recently wrapped this month.
I feel like VR is still very much in its infancy and that there's so much more untapped potential for it. I'm curious to see how this VR experience series turns out and I'm looking forward to checking it out.
