ROCKET LEAGUE is Going to be Free to Play Later This Summer
Rocket League is an incredibly fun video game from Psyonix where you play soccer (and sometimes other sports) in cars! It’s really fun. Well, Psyonix recently announced that later this summer, Rocket League is going to be available for free.
In addition, players will be able to enjoy cross-platform progression by linking an Epic Games Account to the game. Of course, when the game goes FTP, it will also debut on the Epic Games Store. The trick is that when this happens, fans will not be able to download the game via Steam.
Anyone who already has the Steam version will still be able to play and enjoy all future updates and features, but no new players will be able to play on Steam.
If you’ve been playing Rocket League or do play before it goes FTP, you’ll be given a few perks:
All Rocket League-branded DLC released before free to play
"Est. 20XX" title that displays the year when the player first started playing Rocket League
200+ Common items upgraded to "Legacy" quality
Golden Cosmos Boost
Dieci-Oro Wheels
Huntress Player Banner
That’s pretty cool. Plus, if you played Rocket League before the announcement on July 21, you’ll be gifted the Faded Cosmos Boost. All of these items will be awarded once the game goes free to play. Unfortunately, we do not have an actual date for when Rocket League will become FTP, but more information has been promised in the coming weeks.
