ROGUE ONE Director Gareth Edwards Also Wants to See an Obi-Wan Kenobi Solo Film

Fans have been clamoring to see an Obi-Wan Kenobi solo film ever since Disney bought Lucasfilm, and now there's one more high-profile personality whose name can be added to the list of those who want to see that happen: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards.

In an interview with Fandango, Edwards was asked what other Star Wars movie he'd most like to direct or watch as a fan, and his answer aligned with those who are hoping to see more of the mysterious period during Obi-Wan's desert days:

"To be honest, Rogue One is the period I love. It’s connecting to the original New Hope. If someone made other films in that era – and I don’t necessarily think this is happening, I have no inside knowledge – but that desire to see Obi-Wan Kenobi. Tatooine, basically, I love. As a kid I remember wanting to grow up there; anything in that "Original Trilogy" era I am just besotted with, and it’s just like going back home to your childhood.
That’s the thing with Star Wars – even the bad places you want to go to," he said. "We were doing that on [Rogue One]; there are places that are bad, but you still want to go there. You want to make it beautiful; you want to go and hang out there even if it’s horrific."

Recently, we heard a rumor about why Disney and Lucasfilm may be avoiding an Obi-Wan solo film for the moment, and you can read all about that right here. One thing's for sure, though: Ewan McGregor is up for reprising his role, and we even have a slight idea of what it could look like thanks to this fan video.

What do you think? Do you agree with Edwards?
