ROGUE ONE Explains a Cool Plot Point for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI
I saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi at 11 PM on 12/14 and I really enjoyed it. After watching a movie like this I like to talk with my wife and nitpick at the film even though I immensely enjoy them. It helps me process what I have just seen at 2 AM. If you’ve been on the Internet since the release of The Last Jedi, you’ve no doubt heard the mixed reactions from fans. If you haven’t guessed, we’re about to hit SPOILERS for The Last Jedi.

Some time has passed between The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, but surely not too much time has passed since Finn is just now recovering and we revisit the last scene of The Force Awakens. This is not enough time for the First Order to suddenly think of and perfect this technology. However, what if this was not a First Order idea? What if this was an idea during the time of the Empire? The people over at Daily Dot found a little Easter Egg in Rogue One that could help explain this.
While looking for the Death Star plans on Scarif in Rogue One, Jyn Erso finds a file called “Hyperspace Tracking.” The technology we see in The Last Jedi that leaves some scratching their heads was being worked on by the Imperials back before the story of A New Hope. This leads to a few other questions such as how did the First Order learn about this idea since Citadel Tower and Scarif were destroyed. Well, Star Wars: The Last Jedi The Visual Dictionary can give us a little help in this department.
So, there you go, there’s a fun Easter Egg in Rogue One with a bit more to help explain part of The Last Jedi. Did you have a hard time with this new tech, or were you on board with it from the get-go?
