ROGUE ONE Star Riz Ahmed is in Talks To Play a Popular Marvel Character in VENOM; Could it Be Carnage?

It's being reported that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Riz Ahmed is in early talks to join Sony’s Venom movie. This news comes with some conflicting reports on who exactly he will be playing in the movie. That may or may not be Carnage, who will be the main villain in the film.

Variety is saying that he will be playing "a popular Marvel character." However, they don't indicate on who that character could be. Then there's THR, who makes a point of saying that it won't be Carnage, even though that's the character Sony Pictures has been looking to cast.

Ahmed was rumored to have been considered for the part of Carnage and according to another report from The Tracking Board, sources say that the production team  is "torn as to whether he’ll ultimately play that character or a different one."

On top of all that, Variety reporter Justin Kroll tweeted that Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) and Mathias Schoenarts (The Danish Girl) were all also up for the role that Ahmed is in talks for.

So, as of right now the role that Ahmed is up for isn't confirmed, but there's a slight chance that he could end up in the role of Carnage. We'll just have to wait and see. If he does end up playing Carnage his seems like an interesting choice. If it's not Carnage, who else could it be!? He's a great actor, so whoever he ends up playing, I know he'll do a great job in the role.

Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) is directing the movie and Tom Hardy is attached to star in the film as Venom.
