ROGUE ONE: THE ANDOR CUT Fan Edit Reframes the Story Through Cassian Andor’s Eyes

A new Star Wars fan edit is making the rounds online, and it’s a pretty awesome way to revisit both Andor and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in one seamless experience.

Video editor David Kaylor created Rogue One: The Andor Cut, a reworked version of Rogue One designed to function as the true ending to Andor.

Instead of centering the story around Jyn Erso, this cut shifts the focus to Cassian Andor, reshaping the movie so it feels like a direct continuation and finale to the acclaimed Disney+ series.

Kaylor explained the goal of the project, saying: “‘Rogue One: The Andor Cut’ sets out to re-envision ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ as the finale and epilogue of the Andor series, as if it had been made afterwards.”

That’s a pretty interesting idea, especially after Andor spent two seasons turning Cassian into one of the most compelling characters in the entire Star Wars franchise.

The series originally premiered in 2022 and wrapped up in 2025, while Rogue One hit theaters back in 2016 as a prequel to Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

What makes this fan edit especially cool is how it changes the perspective of the story. The original film was largely driven by Jyn’s journey, but Kaylor restructures the movie to feel more connected to the emotional and political threads established in Andor.

He went on to explain: “‘The Andor Cut’ is in no way attempting to replace or ‘one-up’ the official ‘Rogue One’ film. On the contrary.

“It is simply a different approach to it. …There are so many moments in ‘Andor’ that are absolutely made in a way that assumes you have subsequent knowledge of what happens in ‘Rogue One’. The original version is the events of Rogue One as seen through Jyn’s perspective, and this is through Cassian’s.”

That approach actually makes a lot of sense considering how deeply Andor explored the rebellion, sacrifice, and the people operating in the shadows of the Galactic Empire. Reframing Rogue One through Cassian’s point of view could give longtime fans a fresh emotional angle on a movie many already love.

Fan edits can be hit or miss, but this one was put together with a genuine appreciation for both projects and the larger Star Wars story they’re telling together.
