ROGUE ONE Villain Ben Mendelsohn in Talks to Play The Villain in CAPTAIN MARVEL

Ben Mendelsohn, who played Imperial officer Orson Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is currently in talks with Marvel to play the villain in Captain Marvel! The news comes from Variety who says, "Mendelsohn would play the film’s main antagonist, which would likely be the leader of the Skrulls."

Earlier this year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the main villains in the film would be the Skrulls, but since there's no solid confirmation of who Mendelsohn is playing, it could be anyone. It would make sense for him to play a villain, though, because he's so good at it!

Mendelsohn is such a wonderfully talented actor and it been great to see him land all of these great movie roles in big films. If cast, he will join Brie Larson, who is taking on the role of Carol Danvers.

Captain Marvel will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who previously worked with Mendelshon in the fantastic Indie film Mississippi GrindThe most recent script comes from Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider).

The story of the film is set in the 90s and will follow Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight. Nick Fury will also be a part of this story, and Samuel L. Jackson is expected to reprise his role.

Captain Marvel will hit theaters on March 8, 2019. Mendelsohn can be seen next in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One.
