Ron Howard Gives an Update on the Status of WILLOW Season 2

Ron Howard directed the original Willow movie in 1988, and he has jumped on board to executive produce the recent sequel series at Disney+ as well. The first season was a ton of fun, and while we haven’t gotten word that a second season is official yet, it seems like it’s inevitable, as the creators still have a lot of ideas, and fans are ready for more.

When asked about what the word is on a second season of the show, Howard told The Hollywood Reporter:

“Well, there’s always been a hope and a plan for more seasons. There’s certainly more story to tell, but there’s nothing concrete that I can comment on right now. From a creative standpoint, everybody is energized. Everybody loved working on Willow. It felt like it found its voice and its footing, so we’re just standing by.”

Even Ron Howard seems pretty sure we will be getting a second season. That feels like confirmation to me. Season one of the series took place 20 years after the events in the film, when Willow vanquished the wicked queen Bavmorda. In the show, we see the sorcerer Willow Ufgood leading a new group of misfits on a dangerous rescue mission into the unknown.

All of Season 1 is now available to watch on Disney+, and we will let you know when Disney gives word on Season 2.
