Ron Howard Reveals a WILLOW Sequel Series is in "Serious Discussions" For Disney+
After all these years, Ron Howard and George Lucas’ beloved fantasy film Willow might actually get a sequel in the form of a series.
Howard confirmed while a guest on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast that the Solo writer is currently in “serious discussions” with Disney and Lucasfilm about developing the series for Disney+!
I know a lot of fans have been wanting to see the story of Willow continue for years, and it looks like there’s a chance that could actually happen! Howard says:
“There are some really serious discussions going on with Jon Kasdan, who was one of the writers of Solo, who kept hounding me about Willow the whole time we were shooting and also hounding Kathy Kennedy. We’re in discussions about developing a Willow television show for the Disney+. And I think it’d be a great way to go. In fact, George always talked about the possibility of a Willow series, and it’d be great and more intimate, and built around that character and some of the others. And Jon Kasdan has, I think, an inspired take on it and it could be really, really cool.”
That’s so cool to hear! This news has brought joy and happiness into my life today! Hopefully, everything works out! I’d love to see Kasdan and Howard work together on a Willow series! It will also be wonderful to see Warwick Davis come back to reprise his role as the title character.
Howard went on to confirm that Davis would return for the series and says that it would explore a “more mature Willow.” He also said,“Warwick is so cool and so good and he’s such a good actor that I really hope we get the chance to see the mature Willow in action.”
What do you think about the strong possibility that we will eventually end up getting a Willow series on Disney+?
