Ron Howard Set to Direct Robert Downey Jr.'s PINOCCHIO

Warner Bros. and Robert Downey Jr. have been working together for some time now to get a live-action Pinocchio film into production. Over the years directors Ben Stiller, Tim Burton, and Paul Thomas Anderson have been involved with the project. The Tracking Board is now reporting that Ron Howard is set to helm the movie.

The screenplay for the film has been worked on by a few different screenwriters including Michael Mitnick (The Giver), Bryan Fuller (Hannibal), and Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service). As you can see, there's been a lot of solid talent attached to this project. I'm curious to know why the film has been a revolving door for this talent.

The story details on this film are light, but we know that Downey Jr. will play Geppetto, and the moie will follow him as he embarks on a journey to look for his lost son Pinocchio. I'm really curious about this project and looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I'm a fan of Howard as a director, so that fact that he is coming on board the project is exciting.  He most recently directed In The Heart of the Sea and is currently working on the third film in the Angels & Demons trilogy, Inferno with Tom Hanks.
