Ron Perlman and Esai Morales Saddle Up in Trailer for the Gritty Revenge Western COTTONMOUTH
Cineverse has dropped the official trailer for Cottonmouth, a brutal and stylish new western that’s bringing old-school vengeance back to the frontier. Directed by Brock Harris, the film unfolds in 1895 Oklahoma and reimagines The Count of Monte Cristo as a rugged revenge tale on the dusty plains.
The story follows Martin Sensmeier as Ed Dantes, a man whose life shatters on the eve of his wedding when betrayal, jealousy, and bloodshed collide. After being framed and thrown into a hellish territorial prison, Ed claws his way back from the edge, reborn as an outlaw with a score to settle. As the trailer teases, “Love turns to blood. Justice turns to revenge.”
Set in the town of Ingalls, Oklahoma, Cottonmouth pits Ed against his former friend Frank (Jonathan Sadowski) and the corrupt saloon owner Billy Dunn (Eric Nelsen), who’s got his eyes on both Ed’s bride-to-be, Sophia (Alyssa Wapanatâhk), and her family’s saloon. What follows is a violent reckoning as Ed rides out for vengeance, testing where loyalty ends and justice begins.
Ron Perlman and Esai Morales add veteran gravitas to the cast, alongside Jonathan Lipnicki, rounding out an ensemble that brings grit and emotional depth to Harris’s frontier world. The film’s tagline reads, “Every bullet carries the weight of a broken heart.”
With its mix of dusty vengeance, doomed love, and classic western intensity, Cottonmouth looks like a sharp shot of frontier fury.
Cineverse will release the film direct-to-VOD on November 4th, 2025.
